Birthday Dinner: Seattle Style

A very happy birthday to me indeed. My sister and brother in law made us the most amazing salmon dinner for my birthday! We found the most amazing King and Sokeye salmon at Pike Place so we decided to prepare them two different ways. We prepared one with a salmon rub from that same store World Spice we went to yesterday and one with a teriyaki glaze. It was delicious! The store also had jumbo sea scallops so we decided to make scallops wrapped in bacon! Toby's favorite!

While shopping at Pike Place we also found some awesome veggies. We decided on brussels sprouts and romesco. In case you aren't familiar with romesco, it tastes a bit milder than broccoli and looks totally unusual and crazy. Renee simply roasted them in the oven and they had amazing flavor. Yum!
Next was the scallops wrapped in bacon. These were cooked perfectly! Seared on the outside and succulent on the inside. And well, anything wrapped in bacon is always a good idea.
And as if all of this wasn't amazing enough, they topped it all off with the most amazing coffee mocha cheesecake from Bakery Nouveau. The cheesecake was one of the best cheesecakes I have ever had. It had such great coffee flavor and what seemed like an oreo crust. It was topped with a chocolate ganache that was so silky! Might I add, when I went in to get the cake and they had the most amazing pastries!
And just because this view was not enough... you really need to see the inside of this cake!
As if this day/night was not amazing enough, they got me the most amazing gifts! Books that any food blogger will appreciate! Books on food blogging and photography! Love my Seattle Family!!
